Meet Priya
As a three-time cancer survivor, I have learned that there are many ways to address cancer. Cancer is far more than just the disease itself. It has many far-reaching impacts, often leaving both mind and body scarred from various traumatic experiences. This was very true for me. Adding to this was an early life filled with trauma. After my second cancer diagnosis, only four months after the first, I knew I needed to take some healing steps on my own while continuing to work with my team of medical experts. Through a cancer support centre called Wellspring I discovered the benefits of Reiki during and post treatment.
In 2014, after my treatment was complete, I decided to reward myself with a two week retreat in the Bahamas at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram. Yoga had always been a part of my life, but not a daily “practice” or way of life. After two weeks, I learned that negative Energy is the root of all “DIS” ease. Clearing and healing it can resolve many health issues. I knew that I needed to make yoga and meditation a priority; the impacts on my mood and outlook were life changing. I had more daily energy and was sleeping restfully for the first time in my adult life. In 2015, I returned to Sivananda Bahamas and spent several months obtaining my advanced teaching certification and delved further into various energy healing modalities (Yoga, Theta, Thai massage, and Nidra).
In 2016, I decided to learn more about channelling energy. I attended Delphi University of Spiritual Studies in Georgia to pursue certifications in Channelling and Mediation. This was quickly followed by a year long sabbatical trip to India in 2017 to complete a Master Level in Reiki, and certifications in Pranic Healing, and Marma Massage.
Yoga and Reiki are not going to cure cancer for me or anyone else, but having suffered through it once again in 2018, I know that both practices have given me the ability to address the cancer and deal with the aftermath using strength and energy that had been previously absent. My mind, body and spirit were stronger and more resilient. Reiki in particular aided in cleansing my energy and prepared me to fight cancer with that greater strength and resiliency. Yoga and meditation have helped me with reducing stress and strengthening my focus to heal.
